My First PC
Hi there! I’m Eric, a stay-at-home Dad, web developer, and the proud owner of Port Web Design. My journey into tech started when I was just 10 years old, thanks to our very first family PC. My brother and I spent countless hours glued to it—playing games and learning GW-BASIC to create text-based adventure programs. I’ll never forget the excitement of writing logic, typing 'run,' and watching everything come to life. It was so cool, so fun! Eventually, we pooled our paper route money to buy a Nintendo, and the computer started to take a backseat as we got older. But that early programming spark stuck with me, shaping the path that brought me here today.
Twenty five years later I wasn't enjoying a lackluster career in machining, so in 2004 I went back to school to rekindle my interest in programming by studying web development. Web development was the perfect marriage of creativity and engineering, and I knew this was a great fit for a career.

After graduating and freelancing for 2 years I landed my first professional web developer job at an agency. It was a magical time on the internet, Flash websites were everywhere, the iPhone had just been released, Internet Explorer was the go-to browser, and Google Chrome had yet to be released. HTML table-based design was the industry standard but CSS layout was quickly taking over, as well as responsive design. My how things have moved on.
Seventeen years and a few agencies (and kids) later — I decided it was time to hang out my own shingle in the web design industry. I started this company with one main goal: to create professional-quality, high-performing websites for clients who don’t have big budgets.
With gratitude I named the company after my birthtown and current home where I live with my lovely wife and two kids, and so began the Port Washington Web Design company; proudly serving Port Washington and the Midwest. Now, let's hear your story!
When creating a website for you we keep to our core value of doing the heavy lifting for you. A short questionnaire we have you fill out will be our guide. We will then handle everything, starting with writing the entire website content, and then proceeding to design. At this point we will then review it with you to make sure we are on the same frequency. You'll have plenty of opportunity to weigh in and voice your opinions. If the design is approved we move forward with the development.
